Meet The Peer Artists

Sandra Fariss
Peer Artist / Owner

Sandra Fariss is a native of Owensboro, KY.  She is also a 20 year Military Veteran. She has received her Bachelor's Degree of Arts / Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Social and Behavioral Studies from Western Kentucky University and received her Master’s Degree in Public Administration/Political Science with an emphasis in Human Resources from Western Kentucky University. While working on her undergraduate degree she attended courses in Art Appreciation, Drawing I & II, and Painting I & II at Owensboro Community and Technical College. Sandra’s military experience, combined with her education, knowledge and appreciation of art history and different art genres has provided her the aptitude to teach a range of art styles. She has the ability to communicate concrete and abstract concepts to students, accompanied by the ability to spot and cultivate creativity. Because her love of education, Sandra returned to Owensboro Community and Technical College to complete her Associates Degree in Fine Arts. Her favored mediums are Charcoal, Oils and Acrylics.

John Schartung
Peer Artist

John Schartung is a native of Owensboro, KY.  He has his Associate of Science Degree from Owensboro Community and Technical College, Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Southern Indiana and received his Masters of Art from Indiana State University where his focus was in painting and printmaking. John has exhibits in both private and corporate collections throughout the United States, Europe and Asia as well. Most recently receiving “2015 Best in Show” from the Owensboro Art Guild Regional Exhibition. John’s work has also been published in American Printmakers.John currently teaches Drawing I & II, Basic Photography, Painting, and Art Appreciation at Brescia University. John is an Art Club Faculty Advisor and also teaches Basic Photography and 3D design at Owensboro Community and Technical College. He was recently an Instructor of Art at Kentucky Wesleyan College teaching Introduction and Advanced Print Making, 2D design, 3D design, and Sculptural Methods in Clay.
